Mitologia Reversa – Fábio Messias
For thousands of years humans have tried to depict what it is to love; to desire a being with one’s whole self and to be enveloped by another. Though try as we may, our visualizations can never translate the elation and pain that come from those connections. The back-and-forth between closeness and absence, fulfillment and desperation, joy and pain. Mitologia Reversa (Reverse Mythologies) explores the timeless construction of the lover's discourse, the pursuit of the ones we love and the isolation that accompanies it.
Fábio Messias was born in São Paulo/SP, Brazil. He is a graphic designer and photographer graduated from Escola Panamericana de Arte e Design. He was awarded the 'Brazil Photography / Porto Seguro Award' in 2012. Along with Renata Baralle and Walter Costa he founded 'TRAMA – Fotolivros em Discussão', which convened meetings about photobooks in Brazil and in other Latin American countries . In the first half of 2019 he was coordinator and mediator of the first Photobook Study Group at the IMS Paulista museum. His photographic work has been exhibited in Brazil and Europe.
